Eco-Pure Peat Moss Biofilter Service Program
As per the NJDEP, 2008 Peat Biofilter Wastewater Treatment Systems Guidance Document, paragraph J (under “Services”), every installed Eco-Pure Peat Moss Biofilter System in New Jersey is required to have an annual, renewable service program.
- NJSMG’s Semi-Annual Peat Moss System Service Program provides preventative maintenance and monitoring. The service includes, but is not limited to; two (2) annual visits to check the peat moss module and to clean the septic tank’s effluent filter. Additional system components (if present) will also be checked (septic and pump tank(s), effluent pump(s) and disposal field inspection ports).
- Septic Tank Pumping. NJSMG recommends that the septic tank be pumped once every 2 years (not included in the Service Program).
- The Semi-Annual Peat Moss System Service Program helps the homeowner comply with regulations set forth by the NJDEP and enforced by local Board of Health Departments. These are positive regulations that help and support homeowners who own septic systems. New Jersey has taken a proactive approach with this alternate technology by requiring that all three parties involved (Manufacturer, Installer and Homeowner) share the responsibility to keep the system functioning and trouble-free.
- The required service program will help insure that our drinking water stays pure and that the environment is protected from the hazards of malfunctioning and out of date septic systems that are abundant throughout New Jersey.
- A cost comparison: The average homeowner with sewer may pay over $400 a year for service, which is comparable to NJSMG’s Semi-Annual Service Program. Pumpout not included.
